Tax Documents to Send to Our Team
We’re excited to start working on your taxes and maximize your savings! To help us accomplish that, here are a few documents we need from you. Please reach out to our team if you have any questions. We’ll work with you to make sure we are not missing any important information.
Business Tax Documents
We’ve worked hard to keep your books updated and organized throughout the year. Now it’s time for the finishing touches! Here are some examples of information we may need from you after the year has ended. Please upload all that apply to your business.
- Last year’s business tax return (if we did not prepare your business taxes last year)
- If your business has payroll, upload all W-2 and W-3 forms
- December bank and credit card statements
- All 1099s received
- Merchant account annual summaries (Amazon, Paypal, Stripe, Square, etc.)
- Statements for outstanding loans (car loans, business loans, loans from owners, etc.) including the balance due at 12/31
- Information on large assets purchased, if not already provided (purchase price, amount financed, date purchased)
Personal Tax Documents
Throughout January, you’ll receive several fun tax documents in the mail—it’s like a second Christmas for accountants! Once you receive these, please upload them to your Mazuma Dash. Be sure to upload all that apply to you. Here are some examples of the information we may need:
- Last year’s tax return (if we did not prepare your personal taxes last year)
- Income items (as applicable)
- W2s received
- 1099s, 1098s, 1095s received (interest, dividends, capital gains, IRA withdrawals, etc.)
- K1s received
- Unemployment benefit statements
- Social Security benefit statements
- Other business income
- Tax refunds from the state
- Documentation related to any other income received
- Deduction items (as applicable)
- Health insurance forms
- IRA/retirement contributions
- Mortgage interest
- Charitable contributions (cash, miles driven, other donations, etc.)
- Medical expenses (including health insurance premiums)
- Real estate and other taxes
- Unreimbursed employee expenses (personal expenses paid for business, job search costs, uniforms, etc.)
- Documentation related to any other deductions or tax credits you are claiming
